Bayview is participating in the Making Home Affordable Program (MHA) sponsored by the United States Treasury.
MHA offers several programs to help qualified homeowners avoid foreclosure when experiencing financial hardships.
Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP)
The Home Affordable Modification Program is intended to help qualified homeowners keep their homes by making their mortgage payments more affordable. It is offered as part of the Making Home Affordable initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Qualified homeowners may have the terms of their unaffordable loans permanently modified
(after a trial period) to make payments more affordable. You can learn more about the program by visiting www.makinghomeaffordable.gov .

How the modification program works ― Overview

1. Qualification and Affordable Payment Calculation
Homeowners provide requested documentation of their hardship and financial condition for review and verification. If they qualify for a modification, a new more affordable payment is calculated. They must sign and return the Trial Modification Agreement and make their first payment at the new affordable payment amount.

Homeowners who don't qualify for the Home Affordable Modification Program may be presented with other options and programs for avoiding foreclosure.

2. Trial Modification Plan Period
Homeowners must complete a 90-day Trial Modification Plan Period during which they must make payments in-full and on-time. The Trial period starts upon receipt by Bayview of the signed Trial Modification Agreement and the first payment.

3. Permanent Modification
After successfully completing the 90-day Trial Modification Plan Period, qualifying homeowners will have their loan modifications made permanent when they return a signed Modification Agreement. In some cases additional benefits may accrue over the subsequent five years for homeowners who keep their loans current over that time.

Home Affordable Unemployment Program (HAUP)
The Home Affordable Unemployment Program (HAUP) provides homeowners struggling to pay their mortgages due to unemployment with a forbearance, which is a temporary period of time during which your regular monthly mortgage payment is reduced or suspended.

Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA)
For homeowners who may feel that they can no longer afford their home, but want to avoid the negative effects of foreclosure. The HAFA Program offers homeowners, their mortgage servicers, and investors incentives for completing a short sale or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure.

Second Lien Modification Program (2MP)
Many homeowners may be struggling to make their monthly mortgage payments because they have a second lien. 2MP offers homeowners a way to lower payments on their second mortgage.
